Things to Do

There is truly something for everyone here. But these are some of our favourites that the local kids adore!

Horseback Riding
Jumping on the majestic horses with the help of experienced guides at Alpine Stables is fun for the whole family. Ride through scenic trails to explore the views around Waterton, see the wildflower fields, catch a glimpse of some of the local wildlife. The thrill of the ride will be an unforgettable experience for the little ones, and you will love the insights into local history you can learn from the experienced guides.

Surreys
One of the best ways you can find to explore the townsite, rent some Surrey’s from Pat’s Waterton and enjoy a family cruise through town (pro tip – they have incredible snacks too!

Shoreline Cruise
You’re in for an adventure with the amazing guides that welcome you aboard the M.V. International for a scenic cruise on the water. Waterfalls and views are to be expected on the two hour cruise, as well as all kinds of fun facts about the history and ecosystems here.

Cameron Lake
Really the perfect place to spend the day, you’ll get more opportunities to catch sight of the local wildlife, plus get a chance to spend time on the water when you rent from Cameron Lake Boat Rentals, from paddle boards to peddle boats, hiking trails to relaxing mountain views, Cameron Lake has tons of fun to offer for the whole family.

Spray Park
A hot summer day and the Waterton Spray park are a match made in heaven! Right in the heart of the village, let the kids run, play and cool off while you soak up their laughs and the views.

Visitor Information Centre
The information Centre is the a great starting point for all your Waterton explorations, with interactive exhibits for the kids to learn and explore with you plan out your next steps or gather ideas from their great guides, it’s a must-see part of any weekend in Waterton.

Family Friendly Trails

Red Rock Canyon
The short trail around Red Rock Canyon is popular among young families as it is a nice easy trail that gives children a chance to explore around them. The loops gives you a clear start and end point and there’s lots of places to stop and enjoy the views and take a closer look at the rocks and flowers or the stunning gorge along the way.

Blakiston Falls
Starting from the same point as Red Rock Canyon, Blakiston Falls is a little longer but another easy hike with a great reward that is the view of the falls at the end. Take in the roar of the falls, it’s lots of fun for all ages and activity levels!

Bertha Point
Along this short hike you can find wild flowers and great views, plus take in the effects of the Kenow Wildfire and see the regrowth that has occurred since as the vegetation has come back better than ever! This is the longest of the three hikes, but offers some 360 views along the way!

It wouldn’t be a weekend in waterton without taking in the amazing views along Lakeshore Trail, stop in at Big Scoop to grab some delicious ice cream before an evening stroll for the absolute perfect way to end your day!
