Goat Lake

The views, wildflowers and wildlife you’ll see along the way to Goat Lake make it worth the journey.

The Goat Lake trail is accessed from Red Rock Canyon. Cross the footbridge and begin your hike following the Snowshoe Trail for the first 4 km. During this section you will cross various creeks moving along generally flat terrain. Once you have arrived at the trail junction prepare to gain some major elevation fast, with a heart pounding 1,750 feet over just 3 km. Initially you will follow switchbacks up the mountainside, before the trail opens up giving you a view of where you are headed and where you have come. Persevere during this uphill slog and you will be rewarded once you have reached the basin. Beautiful Goat Lake is located beneath towering cliffs surrounded by spacious sub-alpine forests. Scan for Mountain Goats on the unforgiving cliffs above or catch some Cutthroat Trout dwelling in the emerald green waters below.
