Kootenai Brown Trail

Kootenai Brown Trail

This multiuse trail runs alongside the Entrance Road and is the best opportunity to see those same views at a slower pace. The paved path takes you up out of the townsite towards the Park Gate, passing the breathtaking views of Mt. Vimy and Middle Waterton Lake and through a small aspen forest towards the Blakiston fan. In the spring and early summer this eluvial fan is home to some of the most diverse and colourful wildflowers. Stop along the way and admire one of the many species you will find here. Climb up Knights Hill for an elevated and stunning view of the valley behind you and then coast down towards the Gate and lower Waterton Lake. Look and see if you can spot a beaver at the damn that sits across from the Gate buildings. The return trip is just as scenic as you slowly make your way back into the Waterton Valley. Great for all activity levels and mobility friendly.
