Lower Bertha Falls

Lower Bertha Falls

A great half-day hike to a breathtaking “Bridal Veil” waterfall. A moderate climb takes you first to Bertha Point where you can see unobstructed views of the Waterton Valley. Continue along, keep right at the marked junction for the Lakeshore trail and hike up a gentle slope where wildflowers such as Fireweed and Wild Bergamot brighten up the landscape with their vibrant colours. Travel through the former old growth forest and see the burn that was left by the Kenow Fire. Around the last corner, tucked away in a small valley is lower Bertha Falls, one of our more spectacular waterfalls surrounded by untouched forest. View the falls from the bridge or take a few steps up the right side to see them in all their glory (Do not attempt to get closer to the falls, it can be slippery!). Enjoy your lunch or snacks by the small stream that comes off the falls and cool down in the water. Return to town from here, or continue your hike on and upwards to Bertha lake.
