Maskinonge

The Maskinonge, Waterton’s largest wetland area, is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. Follow the entrance road out past the Park Gate and turn right at the “T” intersection. Cross the bridge and then take your first right turn down to the parking area at the camp kitchen. This popular picnic area is also a great place to kayak along the calm waters and enjoy a serene moment with nature. Look (and listen) for the sandhill cranes that frequent this area or walk around the loop and see the diverse wildflowers and plant life that grows here. Watch for Osprey as they fish for their dinner and have a fire in the camp kitchen and make your own. A calm evening makes for a perfect backdrop and a mirror-like reflection on the water, any photographers dream!
