Red Rock Canyon Loop

Red Rock Canyon Loop

Follow this short path around the canyon to see the layers of argillite that make up this unqiue canyon. This easy loop starts at the interpretive displays located at the foot bridge adjacent to the parking area and takes you around the lower Red Rock Canyon. Follow the path to the north side of the canyon for views of glacial water running through the beautiful gorge and see it rest in brightly coloured pools. This can be a busy area in the summer months, so please stay on the designated trail to help protect this delicate environment. Look and listen for wildlife that also use this path and enjoy the geology lesson that this walk provides. Some of this beautiful rock is over a billion years old! Cross the footbridge and return back to the interpretive displays to learn more about Waterton’s unique geology.
