In late spring-early summer, Waterton Lakes National Park is filled with the aroma of rare Alberta wildflowers creating a wildflower wonderland in this unique International Peace Park. The vibrant colors of these veritable bouquets pop against the green vegetation in spring, rightfully nicknaming Waterton as the “Wildflower Capital of Canada.” In fact, Waterton’s ecological wonder includes an unusually high number of rare plants – over 175 are provincially rare and more than twenty of these are found only in the Waterton area.
There are a variety of fun ways to observe these colorful beauties. Consider taking an e-bike along the Red Rock road to the parkway, a horseback trail ride or any guided hikes will allow you to take in this rare experience in Waterton.
